Ha Noi (5th January, 2012) – A conference evaluating the project adjusting General Planning of Nha Trang City to 2025 took placed at the head office of the Ministry of Construction under the chairmanship of Mr. Nguyen Dinh Toan, Deputy Minister.

Attending the conference, there were representatives from the Gorvernmental Office, ones from ministries of Finance, National Defense, Industry and Trade, Transport, Culture, Sports and Tourism, ones from Urban Development Department, Infrastructure Development Department and ones from other relevant associations and departments. Representatives of Khanh Hoa province were led by Mr. Nguyen Chien Thang, the provincial President.

During the conference, delegates heard representative of the Vietnam Institute of Architecture, Urban and Rural Planning (VIAP) – Ministry of Construction, the consultant, summarized the contents of the adjusted plan to build Khanh Hoa City to 2025, which differed from the general planning scheme approved in 1998 in: Expanding the planning boundary of Nha Trang City to the west to improve National Highway 1A through Dien Khanh district; defining the vision and main urban development strategies; turning the low-lying area in the west of Le Hong Phong Road into urban ecology, public ecological park combined with tourism services, allocating land for the new local administration; building Nha Trang Airport as a center of finance and services; adjusting spatial organization of the western Nha Trang, upgrading the status of residential areas, improving river system based on their current status, alternating functional areas when required; organizing eco-tourism along the river Cai; moving Stadium 19/8 and other sport areas to Phuoc Dong, giving priority to land used to build parks combination with underground parking area for the city center; adding contents appropriate to Planning Act; adjusting those contents of the infrastructure in accordance with spatial organization content and relevant projects.

All review reports shared one common: This project was well prepared and studied with accurate and updated data from relevant ministries. However, in order to make the contents of the planning close to the practical requirements, the design consultant had to further study the potential and development opportunities of Nha Trang City, especially tourism potential to make Nha Trang the center of international tourism in the future.

Speaking at the end of the conference, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Dinh Toan highly appreciated the project quality and information, reflecting the spirit of sophisticated and hard work of all parties, and asked the design consultant to receive the council’s comments to complete the project as soon as possible to be evaluated once again before submitting to the Prime Minister for approval in the first quarter of 2012. On behalf of Khanh Hoa City, Mr. Nguyen Chien Thang, Khanh Hoa province President, thanked the leaders of the Ministry of Construction, its departments and agencies, and leaders of other relevant ministries for their valuable assistance in establishing the adjusted plan. He also received all directive ideas and comments of the council and promised to to coordinate more closely with the consulting unit to quickly complete the project profile.
